Before you do anything drastic, try replacing the CMOS battery. For some reason the BIOS used on Transmonde computers is very unsophisticated and it is impossible to boot the computer without a functioning battery.

However, I have not heard of a dead battery causing this specific problem. It's worth a try since it will only cost you about $3.00. If you are lucky, one of the removable panels on the bottom of the laptop exposes the battery (it's about the size of a dime, but much thicker -- better said, it's about the size of three dimes stacked on top of eachother).

Good luck! I have heard rumors that some Vivante laptops have a really badly designed motherboard where the CMOS battery is accessible only if you take apart the whole computer. Let's hope you don't have one of those.
