You went really far in the research, I did this once myself, but stopped at downloading manuals and pictures ( by the way I believe BIOS patches are outdated, so if you can take hold on the Dennis's or someone other's who has it on disk this might be more up-to-date and safe). I just want to add that that time I found also some company in Bulgaria that sells I believe Vivantes, but no support and I'm not sure if the web site was up-to-date. Basically it's not much efficient, so look if someone has it for sale. It's possible probably to look for the chips like ESS1968 etc, but this is even more enthusiastic.
Keep posting if you find something up.
