It may sound odd, but try to run command as follows:
0vmakfil -P260

(i.e. capital -P), because I recall I got same error, when I ran 0vmakfil without arguments ( I have the same version of the utility). If this works it would make me think this is internal 0vmakfil problem so it's case-sensitive. Otherwise I'd live without susp2disk, and benefit from extra 260M of the disk space.
