Thank you for the info. I did check on the availability of the Intel PII 400 MHz mobile module and I found a place in Herndon, Virginia that can order it for me at a price -- $425! In comparison, ASE's offer to upgrade to a 366 MHz PII at $200 is a bargain that I probably will do. It's a shame that Transmonde chose to use the MMC-1 242 pin connector instad of the 400-pin MMC-2 connector, which would have allowed the system to be upgraded to a PIII. So the email ASE sent to me about the Vivante SE being capable of upgrading to a PIII is wrong.
I still think the Vivante SE is the best notebook I've ever owned and I'm hanging onto it, but I also purchased a Dell Inspiron 5000 PIII notebook yesterday. It has many of the features of the Vivante SE, including an upgradable MMC-2 IMM module, except that it has an internal floppy drive, 100 MHz external bus, and a removable media bay for DVD, CD-ROM, etc. I really need the extra processing power for video editing, etc.
I really wish the Vivante SE hadn't come to the end of its potential!!!
