Hi Allen,

ASE is a big company that does a lot of stuff. It is
possible that the web page is old and it is still up
so that people can have access to drivers, user's guides,
... but they don't sell anymore. The e-mail on the
taiwan page doesn't work, and ASE USA lists only one
laptop (even that one is not manufactured anymore, I
was told). I tried contacting all three offices of ASE
here in the States. The only number I was given was
a number in California and it was strange. It seemed
like somebody was picking the phone and hanging it
right away. I contated ASE tech support (got the number
from this bulletin archive ) and I was told that ASE makes
no laptops at all anymore. It would be cool if somebody
visted their Taiwan office, but I am not very hopeful.
Maybe Transmonde going down was just a consequence of
ASE not making laptops anymore...
Still, when looking for used parts, I keep my eyes open
for Canary series parts. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky.
Sorry for the long post.

-Mario
