Hi folks --

I am writing mostly so that the info I am going to describe gets archived for anyone mining for this info.

I own a Vivante XL with 300MHz Celeron and 64Mb of RAM. I recently decided to increase the amount of RAM, and of course Transmonde no longer exists to advise me. The info regarding this topic that I found in the message board didn't really adequately answer the question "Can I simply slap in any generic 144-pin SODIMM into the empty RAM slot?"

In an attempt to help answer the question, I wanted to describe my simple success story. I purchased a 128Meg 144-pin PC100 SODIMM from TheChipMerchant. I assume the existing memory is PC66, so I wasn't sure if it would work together. It did. I just plopped it into the empty RAM slot, and away I went, with a nice 196Meg of RAM to work with.

In addition, the model number on the SODIMM (for reference sake) chips is "Samsung 040 K4S280832A-TC75". A description + data sheet on this RAM can be found at:

Cheers --
