If you need more storage, for around $500 you can now get an 18-gig IBM Travelstar 18GT to replace the harddrive in your Transmonde. I discovered this a couple weeks ago when I dropped my Vivante flat on its face onto a tile floor. The latch broke but what's worse, the harddrive "seeked its maker!" When I checked IBM's website for info on the deceased 8-gig drive, I noticed the new 18-gig model with the same form factor. I found it offered at Egghead and ordered one. It was backordered but it arrived in a week and works great!
So far I have Win98 and most of the drivers installed ok. I am planning to make it dual-boot with Win2000. Also with BeOS and Linux if the right drivers come available.
