Subject: W2k performance on Vivante

I posted before saying I liked Windows 2000 on my Transmonde. However, looking (or listening) closer, I find I have unacceptable performance playing WAV files. My system is:
Vivante SE
Celeron 300
96MB ram

I am doing production on stereo 44.1mhz WAV files which play fine using Win98. With Win2000 there are frequent pops during playback.

Prob W2k takes up more ram and there is less left to buffer the disk. This happened with both the 8Gb disk and my new 18gb.

I wonder if there are different settings in W2k that might help? Anyway Win98 seems better for the time being for this task.
