I just received my Vivante XL back from ASE Tech. I had sent it in a couple weeks before they stopped doing repairs on the Transmonde Laptops. Anyway, I got it back it the same condition as when I sent it in. With a message attached... "The CMOS battery was installed in the incorrect place, damaging the CMOS IC. We are not able to fix this computer."

I admit that when I attempted to replace the CMOS battery on my own, it didn't go as smoothly as planned. But how could I have place the CMOS battery in the wrong place? It's obvious where it goes, it's just a pain in the rear to get there. Maybe they just "worded" their message wrong.

Stuck with a non-operational laptop. :(
