Hi Mike,
As you may have noted from my post from a couple of days ago, I also
am having problems getting the DVD to work. After removing and replacing
the drivers, I was getting the same error message you mentioned in your post.
So I did the routine of following the "INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN ABOUT UPDATING THE DISPLAY ADAPTER DRIVER USING THE VIDEO DRIVER FROM THE DISK, DELETING REAL MAGIC AND THEN SUT DOWN AND LOAD REAL MAGIC..." etc., and now no longer get the "does not support a video
device" message, but still get "MCI ERROR" –MMSYSTEM275 cannot find the
specified file. Make sure the path and file name are correct" when trying to play a DVD.
I am wondering if the proper CD/DVD drivers are loaded. Yours may have been removed when
you reformated you HD. Does your DVD drive work at all? (can you read CD's?). I notice that when I strart up my machine, the Teac cd-rom drive is mentioned (which was the original drive
in the machine I purchased, and listed below that as secondary master is the Toshiba DVD drive, which is the type of the new DVD drive I recently installed. After installing the DVD drive, I
did the DVD install as per the instruction sheet (for the Real Magic player, etc.), but haven't seen anything about loading CD/DVD drivers.
Hopefully somebody out there can help us shed some light on this matter
