Failing the RTC on actual rollover is no big deal. As long as you do not have your computer on when the actual 1999 to 2000 rollover occurs, having that particular real time clock "failure" will effect absolutely nothing. My advice is to avoid the hassle and possible problems of changing your BIOS and simply leave your computer off when the year changes over to 1999.
