Early 90s started a new phenomena that each successive new government taking over charge dismissed the employees recruited by previous out-gone government on the premise that those were not appointed on merit but on political considerations. After these dismissals the new government recruited new people telling the nation it believed on merits when the then next government dismissed those �merited� ones and recruited fresh ones and so on.

The heavy mandated brilliant �businessman� Nawaz Sharif due to past experience and additionally knowing well his tenure might not complete 5 years appointed his dear ones on very high salaries and perks which high salaries previously were never seen in Pakistan in government service and if my memory in this old age is not letting me down allegedly some President(s) of Bank(s) were paid five years advance salary.

Mian Nawaz Sharif the heavy mandated like other politicians sitting in �Royal Mahals� is now crying for democracy. How much love he had for democracy can be judged from one example. He appointed the then Chairman PTCL who had no practical experience of modern communication technology. He was given such a high salary that press had to raise eye brows. Voice about his high salary was also heard in the floor of parliament. Some parliamentary (perhaps Senate sub committee) recommended that services of this Chairman may not be renewed after expiry of his existing contract. The democracy loving Nawaz how much love he had for democratic principles can be judged from the fact ignoring parliamentary committee recommendation renewed the services of said Chairman PTCL.

If from the bank account or capital of a hotel I pay 5 years advance salary to my Manager or I pull out 5 years advance salary as an owner for myself it means that I am enemy of the hotel and want to destroy it. Taking away so much money out of capital working cash flow of an organisation really is cutting the basic foundation of the organisation. The heavy mandated businessman turned politician I am sure would not had paid even a year advance salary to any general manager of his foundry.

Nawaz had to go mid term and as such naturally those Bank President(s). Does anyone know the advance for the period for which President(s) of Bank did not serve was recovered back and put back into the bank after all that amount pertaining to un-served period relates to we the poor account holders whose �profit� from the banks has tremendously gone down due to such �wise� expenses.
