Subject: The Energy Crisis

On tonight's Frontline:

"On June 5 FRONTLINE and The New York Times join forces to investigate the story behind California's energy crisis. 'Blackout' examines whether power companies and energy trading companies capitalized on deregulation to make huge profits and explores what actions the new Bush administration will take to address what the president is now calling a national crisis."

I'm a huge fan of Frontline; I think it's one of those few (U.S.) shows that is factual, thorough and as close to unbiased as you can get. I'm looking forward to tonight's show because, though I've read and heard countless reports on the energy "crisis," I must confess I am still unsure as to exactly what the hell happened. Republican politicians blame Democrats, Democrats blame Republicans, and the "news" treats the issue with almost as much depth as is possible in two minute segments (which basically translates into endless stories about how [insert random upper-middle-class-with-2.5-kids-family here] are going to have to cut their planned two-week summer vacation down to one, or even, *heaven forbid,* a weekend!).

Anyway, I thought some of you guys might be interested in the show. : )
