Y'all are making me homesick with all this talk of tornados and sand storms. Why, I couldn't adequately describe watching that miles-high reddish-brown wall move across the flat, west Texas land when a dust storm's hittin' to these Yankees up here; it's just something you have to see. And while tornados are not completely unheard of around these parts, it’s certainly nothing like west Texas. I don’t even know how I’ll be able to watch TV up here during tornado season; I’ll miss the almost constant little tornado icon in the corner of my screen, reminding me of warning or watches.

I was just telling Kathy earlier today on the phone that it rained here today. Just rained. Showers on and off all morning and afternoon. Not the violent, torrential thunderstorms of Biblical proportions I'm used to back home every time the clouds open up down there. Just a little rain in an otherwise beautiful, mild summer.

*Sigh* I guess the Almighty is pretty liberal, sending all this nice weather to this heavily democratic area of Iowa I find myself in. :)
