The fact that the 15 years I spent as a military brat gives me more experience in things martial than an overwhelming majority of this current admin (and most of Congress) makes steam rise up from my temples. My dad did 20 years in the Air Force, and Rumsfeld disturbs him. Should we really go to war w/ a Sec'y of Defense that has insulted veterans and the Joint Chiefs of Staff? Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf has gone on record with the observation that Rummy doesn't know what the Hell he is talking about. Am I the only person that considers that to be a really important piece of Information?

Dubya seems to think that the Gulf War was a success because it was easy, and not because of the planning of generals that got dragged thru hell face down in Vietnam and were determined to never let the folks under them to go thru the same thing.

We hear WMD, WMD, WMD! He gassed his own people! (with the tacit approval of the Reagan admin). But for some reason Bush fils seems to believe that such weapons will not be used in the event that we go into Iraq. Not on our own troops, and certainly not Israel.

Has anyone given any thought to what would happen if Saddam attacks Israel? I have no doubt that Sharon would use the policy of "Fuck with me, I turn you into slag" with regards to Iraq. Not that I'd blame him; it is his job to look after his own country. Does Bush have a speech ready to go when thousands of US soldiers get ground up in the crossfire between Israel and Iraq?

Sometimes I get the feeling that the goal of this war is not Oil, or Making the World Safe from "Terra'", but to kick off WW3 so Jeebus will come back and magically solve everyone's problems.
