I think as humans it is in our nature to attach romantic importance to that which we cannot know. This goes very far in explaining why there are so many spititual "truths".

What a person chooses to believe may or may not reflect "what is", however those beliefs may offer hope or a sense of belonging in a vast and uncaring universe.

I found it interesting that you have redefined reincarnation to fit your own way of thinking.

I find it hard to believe that what little energy is left after the human body dies has the capability to "seek out other energy and somehow combine forces with said energy through some mystical intelligence and then become something "identifiable to the human brain and eye".
This, you must admit, takes quite a bit of imagination.
