In reply to: TracyJean 's message, "How did I know you were going to say something like that? Guess it's time to get out the flame-retardent suit. Well, here goes. I wrote this the same night Adrift II aired, so it's mostly about that episode, but there are several references back to the first part. INSIDE" on 12:36:20 09/10/05 Sat

Wow, TracyJean, that was awesome!! I hope you read my comments "inside" my post which I wrote before I read your rant. Oh BTW - I gave A I a 5 and A II ( with the exception of the H/S scene a 3.5. (NT) -- can j, 21:58:18 08/19/05 Fri

Read them. And you know, I actually half-way liked Adrift I the first time I saw it. Then, as I said at the beginning of this piece, when I watched it just before Adrift II, I watched it with a much more critical eye. The flying was good, but that was about it. (NT) -- TracyJean, 22:00:29 08/19/05 Fri

I'm only half-way through the "rant" and had to stop to say "WOW"; that's some posting! (NT) -- clr, 22:27:32 08/19/05 Fri

Wow, TJ, you really put a lot of thought into this and I do agree with you on some points. But all in all, you're pretty much saying the eps weren't realistic. So my question is, when is JAG ever realistic? Every single ep can be dissected just like this one. I know we pick and choose what we think is realistic and what is stupid based on our JAGviews, but when we watch JAG we have to take what they give us. The only exception is when it became obvious that the motives were other then furthering the plotline and that was in seasons 9 and 10. (NT) -- judi admiring TracyJean for her detailed critique but also overthinking isn't always good either., 22:44:24 08/19/05 Fri

I can suspend realism when it's a good story. These episodes missed on both counts. (NT) -- TracyJean, 22:56:09 08/19/05 Fri

Good job TracyJean but I also agree with Judi on this. Maybe Im used to many misfires from Jag but when I look at Harm many things are forgiven and even when my shippy heart ached a lot in this episode this is among my high collection list of eps that stapled my beliefs that Harm and Mac are so in love and are fated together forever. How can we not forget the good times at Maeves with these eps before? It was a blast especially that we had each other to laugh, fret, pull our hairs out and throw something on our tv sets.LOL! I give this a 4 out of 5. (NT) -- Jann, 23:40:16 08/19/05 Fri

I can't agree with alot of what your saying. If we picked apart every aspect of the whys and why nots of the actions of H&M and the rest of the characters, there would be nothing redeeming left to enjoy. While I agree that Mic was annoying and pushy, I have to assume that the writers made him that way to show the difference between Harm &Mic. Mic & Renee weren't bad people. They actually helped create the intensified angst between H&M. (NT) -- my2kats, 23:56:14 08/19/05 Fri

Very well put, TracyJean. You have excellent points on all of these. I did see two scenes a little differently from you, though--when Chloe comes in to see Mac, who's been alone in her office, I thought she (Chloe) was assuming Mac was doing her psychic stuff. Later conversation in there added to my impression of that. And Renee's odd remark about Springsteen tickets was just the sort of strange, inappropriate remark that people sometimes make in times of major stress. (By the way, I didn't see this when you first posted it, because I hadn't "discovered" JAG yet. Thanks for reposting!) (NT) -- Deemus, 14:27:18 08/20/05 Sat

Tracy Jean, I didn't even get into Adrift II as I thought we were discussing A I. But it seems to me, you got so caught up with the minutia, that you lost track of what was supposed to be going on. There's too much here to go through point by point, as it seems somewhat like stream of consciousness writing. Overall though, I couldn't disagree with you more. But you'll have to wait until we discuss Adrift II before I give my own thoughts. I did Adrift I below. (NT) -- Cece, 15:08:19 08/20/05 Sat

I was told to post it, so I posted it because you can't discuss part I without II. And I'm a detail-oriented person and I'm not going to apologize for that. If the details don't work, then I just cannot enjoy the overall effort. Since I'm tired of people telling me that I'm too detail-oriented, then I just won't bother anymore. (NT) -- TJ, 16:47:07 08/20/05 Sat

Hey I wasn't telling you off for doing Adrift II. I was just saying that I wasn't prepared to respond. I need to give the ep some thought, that's all. As for being tired of people telling you you are too detail orientated, I guess we assumed you wanted comments. As you went into detail, it's kind of hard to comment without mentioning it. At least you got people reading what you wrote, which is more than what I got...LOL. (NT) -- Cece, who would rather be looked over than overlooked, regardless of whether people agree with me or not., 17:20:28 08/20/05 Sat

I don't have a problem with people responding, but the impression I'm getting from your responses is that I would have enjoyed the episode more if I just ignored all the details. Sorry, but that's wrong. I feel like people are expecting me to change my opinion. (NT) -- TracyJean, 17:48:41 08/20/05 Sat

TJ, that is the nature of argument and discussion. We try to pursuade others of the validity of our arguments. Blame Aristotle, LOL. There is no point in discussion if we are never prepared to see other p.o.v. and maybe change our own minds. I love good, persuasive writing, particularly if I can be won over by a great argument. (NT) -- Cece., 18:09:09 08/20/05 Sat

That didn't come out quite the way I mean it to, but I don't see comments such as "you got too caught up in the minutia" or "If we picked apart every aspect of the whys and why nots of the actions of H&M and the rest of the characters, there would be nothing redeeming left to enjoy" as trying to get me to see a different POV. I just see that as bashing my opinion. It's pretty hard to enjoy a story if I keep getting pulled out of it because of continuity errors, characters acting OOC and TPTB purposely jerking us around.
