I think I'd give it a 4+ because of Keeter, flying Harm, buddying up with Meg to thwart the Cubans, and the introduction of a bumbling CIA character who would become Webb. I think the introduction of the character of AJ was a stroke of genius until they changed him into "Joe Bureaucrat Who Wants to Retire". They did a great job making Krennick a villain. Aren't all sexual harassments about power rather than sex? I prefer North of Union Station because Harm built it. Hammering Harm is very sexy. (NT) -- TH, 21:13:58 07/15/05 Fri

You are SOOO right, TH. "Hammering Harm" is mucho sexy! I must tell you all how muy sorprender Mi Toro Bonito is when he's "hammering"! MMmmmm...SIGH! I am becoming muy caliente just thinking about it! It's too bad that blonde woman wouldn't stay - the two of us could have shown Harm un rato maravilloso (a marvelous time)! (NT) -- Maria Elena Carmelita Moreno Gutierrez - packing my bag for a quick trip to London ;-), 00:00:57 07/16/05 Sat

Now, Maria Elena, if you are going to London to find Harm, he's a married man now. . .and his wife is a tough Marine! LOL! (NT) -- Araninda, 00:22:47 07/16/05 Sat

Yeah, MECMG, we got Mac to agree to the Harmyladies B'day clause in the pre-nup, but there was NO old girlfriends clause. Sorry 'bout that, Chica. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^<, 12:02:05 07/16/05 Sat

Well, considering I was the *first* "HarmyLady", I feel I must lay claim to the B'day clause. And I would NEVER stoop so low as to being *just* a girlfriend. Oh, no, Madre de Gatos, I was Soooo much more than a mere "girlfriend" that bakes biscuits or helps with the laundry. tsk, tsk, Poor Jordan and Renee'. They never had a chance of having what *I* have w/ Harm. It's a "Segundo Cruise Girl Thing", you wouldn't understand. (NT) -- MECMG (and don't let Jack Keeter's story fool you!), 20:15:59 07/16/05 Sat

It's a 5. Definately. I loved Harm in this ep. And we got to meet Keeter and AJ. Plus it ws the first appearance by Bernard White, who later played Saddiq. I never really liked Krennick, but I always felt she was a 'turnabout' to do with the Tailhook scandal. Instead of a male officer committing sexual harrassment, it was a female officer harrassing a handsome junior officer. I think that Harm was more amused by her advances, and knew that it was all about power for her - a way to keep him in line so that he wouldn't get in her way on the way to becoming the first female JAG. I think that the AJ we first met did indeed fit Krennick's description. They 'mellowed' him over time until that last awful season when he wasn't the same man at all, imo. I prefer the apartment N. of Union Station. Harm put a lot of himself into it, I felt, and seemed to enjoy working on it. That's why I can see him buying an older house and 'fixing it up' to suit his tastes (NT) --
-- nancyeddy-my *real* name, 21:45:54 07/15/05 Fri

I'm with TH, above, on almost everything. I think the sexual harassment was about power, but power used to try to get an attractive man, not just power to show power. It's just as wrong, of course. I always felt that it made Harm a bit uncomfortable, but he was always able to get away, so to speak. I'd give the episode a 4. (NT) -- Deemus, 21:47:40 07/15/05 Fri

I give it a 5 because I loved the interaction between Harm and Meg, Harm and Keeter, and Harm and the Cuban Captain. Krennick wasa viper and Andrea Thompson portrayed her very well. It was about Power more than sex, although I'm certain on a personal level she wanted Harm because he was sexy as h*** and he was a challenge for her. I don't think Krennick's description of AJ was accurate. I think part of her description fit her better than AJ, especially the part about "very ambitious and wanting to be the next CNO", except she like Singer wanted to be the first female JAG. She was also a genius at "jumping on the faster horse" meaning she knew who she needed to shmozz in order to get what and where she wanted. If AJ was as ambitious as she claimed, he wouldn't have still been a two star in a dead-end position. I prefer Harm's apartment in Seasons 2-10. What I found really amusing about Harm's apartment in Season One was that we only saw his apartment twice and the first time we saw it in Deja Vu it was totally different from when we saw it in Smoked--the entire internal structure had been changed with an upstairs bedroom added. Our first indication of the lack of continuity for which JAG became so famous. (NT) -- abrah, 21:55:46 07/15/05 Fri

1) I'd give it a 4.5. It has action, flirtation, and flying. 2) The only thing I don't like about the ep is Krennick's sexual harassment of Harm. It was definitely about power - she flat out said so. "You'll be lucky to earn a Sea Scout badge." I think he felt harassed, but that he could handle it. 3) AJ fit the description at the time, then he mellowed a bit, then he turned into the ex-SEAL who was willing to let Mac die. I miss the original AJ. 4) I like North of Union Station best, if only because we got to see the cooler in the fridge and Bud with the sanding machine. (NT) -- Ann, 21:57:31 07/15/05 Fri

I loved this episode - my second-favorite from season one. 1) I'd give it a 5. A great intro to AJ and Keeter, an action Harm, even Krennick had a good moment as she stood up for Harm with the "State" weasel. 2)At times, Krennick was too cartoonish, although she did have the occasional good moment (see above). I think it was definitely all about power for her. I think Harm was by turns flattered by the attention and extremely uncomfortable with it. I think Harm could have done more to put her off (I think that's where the flattered part comes in, although I think he had enough of an ego to think he could handle it himself). 3)In the beginning, yes. We even see him bucking for a promotion in season three (With Intent To Die) and he seemed very interested in that federal judgeship in Real Deal SeAL. But AJ ended up being extremely watered down in later seasons and by the end he was just another paper-pushing beaurocrat. It seemed that AJ (and the writers) forgot that he'd once been a SeAL and that he'd once had "the spray in his face". By the end, it was almost a relief to see (or rather, hear in my case) that he'd retired because it was sad for a once-great character to be reduced to what he was. 4)There's nothing wrong with this apartment (I wouldn't mind having a layout like that for myself), but I prefer his apartment post-season one because it was a labor of love for him. In fact, I don't think it will give too much away to say that at some point in DOALS, Harm will be fixing up a house for him and Mac (I see that the way nancyeddy does - I think Harm would love to do something like that). (NT) -- TracyJean, 22:08:43 07/15/05 Fri

Almost forgot. When Krennick first propositioned Harm, I had visions of A Few Good Men going through my head and Col. Jessup's speech in Cuba about superior officers who are female. (NT) -- TracyJean, 22:43:23 07/15/05 Fri

This is one of my favorites Its a 5 for me. I loved Harm and Jack playing off of each other, :Harm was strikingly handsome. I loved the cigar! 2) Krennick made me cringe, this ep especially, which made the last scene all the more sweet! 3)While I agree that AJ was ambitious(he was a SEAL then became JAG of the Navy.) Krenick's view of anyone would be twisted.4) I'm definitely a North of Union Station girl. (NT) -- mkim, 22:19:28 07/15/05 Fri

Four plus. Harm's interaction with Keeter contributed a lot. Krennick was repulsive, and he was highly embarrassed by her advances. She described in the Admiral in a warped way from her own amoral viewpoint. I prefer the North of Union Station apartment done by Harm. He likes classical music, Beethovens Eroica, but I dont recall this elsewhere. (NT) -- Truman, 22:33:41 07/15/05 Fri

One of my favorite lines in this episode is when Harm tells Krennick that a "Marine Colonel” taught him to separate eggs (NT) -- Araninda, 22:41:18 07/15/05 Fri

And he hadn't even met Mac yet! Another great line was "You're not going to puke" (Krennick to State Dept/NSA jerk). Hate to like a line she said but he was so smary and she said it with such eloquent disdain. (NT) -- clr, 22:48:35 07/15/05 Fri

OK Krennick's sexual harrasment is about power, but why would Harm put up with it? I know the male ego thing ("men can't be sexually harrassed") bull, but he obviously felt harrassed and very uncomfortable. Plus, Krennick put it on the line: sleep with me or you'll never get a promotion. Jeez, why didn't Harm do the anonoymous Hot Line tip? Why didn't he go to his CO (AJ)? Why did he not turn her in? (NT) -- clr, 22:41:53 07/15/05 Fri

I think he felt that if he did go to AJ, he would be seen as someone who couldnt handle a difficult situation.(I dont think he really felt threatened by her, she was more of an aggrivation than anything) He had just met AJ, I'm sure he wanted his good opinion. And honestly, I think its plain old male pride. Didn't say it was right but there it is (NT) -- mkim, 23:13:47 07/15/05 Fri

Plus, I believe him when he told her that she had nothing to fear from him, "I'm not that ambitious." I don't really think that Harm ever had any great desire to be the JAG; he just wanted to be the best lawyer he could be. If that brought him promotions, fine. But what he really wanted was to be a Naval Officer and help make the world a better place. So Krennick didn't bother him as much as she might have. (NT) -- Ann, 23:49:56 07/15/05 Fri

sorry Ann but I disagree with that. Harm said "I'm not that good and I'm not that ambitious" neither of which I think he believed or showed in the next 9 years. He WAS that good, and IMHO he definately was that ambitious. Remember his reaction to Bobbie when she told him he was up for promotion? He may not have broadcast it like Singer, but he IMHO was most assuredly ambitious. (Not trying to start a fight here, just expressing a different read of the eps/scripts/characters; please don't take this personally Ann). (NT) -- clr, hoping I made myself clear, 00:14:22 07/16/05 Sat

The way I see it, he said that because he was still young and still new to law. It was only in time that he became a good ambitious lawyer. (NT) -- JAG Junkie, 00:41:59 07/16/05 Sat

I know where you're coming from clr and that's why Im confuse and turned off with TPTB doing the bitter and power play between Harm and Sturgis like both were so bloodthirty for power and so alpha male juvenile about it. Another blur and mishap from TPTB. (NT) -- Reese, 02:32:59 07/16/05 Sat

Of course he was pleased about being up for promotion. In the military, if officers don't get promoted, they get kicked out. It's called "overage in grade/rate" depending on the service. To be able to stay in for 20 years, you have to make it to at least O-4. Making it to O-5 ensures you can stay in for about 28 years. Harm woudn't want to be forced to retire because he didn't get promoted to commander. I still don't believe that he ever cared about being promoted to top dog. We'll have to agree to disagree. The main problem Harm had with Sturgis as acting JAG was the way Sturgis was treating him and Mac. He was assigning them things to do normally done by junior officers. Harm took it personally, as well he might. -- Ann, 10:29:19 07/16/05 Sat

Small tech correction. Unless USNA started it earlier than USAFA, Harm would have gotten a regular commission when he graduated in 85. They no longer do as of about 91/2. A "regular" commission means that barring being tossed out for something serious, you can stay an 01 (tho I've never known of one) and stay for 20. Harm just made 04, his next promotion board was way in the future. In the ways of the miltary ("real" not "reel") Krennick, as ambitious as she was, would have been long gone by the time she was more than just a bad joke to him. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^< I didn't like her either, and thought she gave women officers a bad rep, but I can completely understand why Harm never said a word, 12:18:20 07/16/05 Sat

I didn't like her and didn't trust her. And wish someone had turned her in. That attitude, especially in the military, can not be condoned. And the harrassing was just one indicator of her character, I think she'd be very capable of doing other questionable things as well. It's too bad she never reappeared - on trial this time. It would have been interesting to see it all play out. (NT) -- NanaSue, 15:51:22 07/16/05 Sat

To me, Harm never looked worried for a minute. I think at first Kennick was sexually harrassing him, but I don't think she would have tried that with a shy, retiring guy. In the end, I think that she fell for Harm and would never make him suffer because he didn't sleep with her. I am not saying she was not wrong to go after him, but I she seemed like a team player when the chips were down. She made a play and it went nowhere. Harm was never scared of her, or threatened by her. (NT) -- Cece, 20:21:07 07/16/05 Sat

I agree, Cece. But she was so blatantly in violation of the UCMJ, I think it would have been perfect for TPTB to bring her to trial. Sexual harrassment is never funny, and it would have been nice to see someone actually get the consequences for it. (NT) -- NanaSue, 22:05:18 07/16/05 Sat

While I hated the was a senior woman officer was shown, sexual harassment is in the mind of the one being harassed. If Harm was sort of having fun playing cat and mouse with her, then it really wasn't. IF he felt pressured to sleep with her, it would have been. It was pretty obvious OFC was never scared of Krennick at all. Although, in early S10, he did look a bit uncomfortable about her until Bud said she was out of the running. Maybe because he knew he always had a safety valve as long as she wasn't the 'big boss,' although most SH complaints are routed through the IG"s office, not JAG. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^<, 11:50:41 07/17/05 Sun

5 Have always loved this episode. It was about power for Krennick in the beginning, but later I thought she wished there could have been something real between them. (Hemlock & Prisoner) Loved the way Harm flew the Lear! The Union Station apartment. This location looks like a dorm room. (NT) -- psych9, 22:43:04 07/15/05 Fri

One last thing & I promise I'll stop: actor who was State Dept/NSA jerk turned up as cardiac surgeon in Code Blue. Actor who was Air Force pilot turned up as State Dept. jerk in Florida Straits (and maybe a helpful guy in Yesterdays Heros). Just for the record. (NT) -- clr, 22:51:22 07/15/05 Fri

unfortunately, I've never seen smoked, and don't have it on tape... but... thanks to Hopes wonderful screen caps I have formed a few opinions..... Harm apparently cooks more than pasta and salmon...lol... I had no idea Keeter was ever that young.... and I sure do miss those tank tops in later seasons.... sigh..... (NT) -- Chris K, 23:13:37 07/15/05 Fri

I liked Harm flying the jet, the Cuban pilot, Harm sneaking out to sabotage the plane, Harm sneaking out to un-sabotage the plane, Harm and Keeter flying, and especially Harm's faces at the end when Krennick is there. (NT) -- Gunshy, 23:15:46 07/15/05 Fri

I give this ep. 4 and I like it so much for all the reason said but my favorite sentence in this ep is: " in consideration of your maternal instintc" that say the Cuban Pilot to Kernic (NT) -- Gra, 23:19:38 07/15/05 Fri

1) 5. It was a great episode. 2)Krennick wanted power over him but I wonder if she would have enjoyed it as much if Harm looked like Bud or Webb. LOL I also think that as the season went on she found herself falling for Harm, the man. I like to see reverse harassment for a change. 3) Interesting about AJ. I think he was enthusiastic at first wanting to show everyone a thing or two. But over the years, he settled into his position as JAG with a diversion where he thought he might like to be a judge. 4) definitely North of Union Station. I saw that apt in person and whoever designed it did a fabulous job. Besides, I got to lay on his bed and sit on his couch. Sigh! (NT) -- -- judi, 03:38:29 07/16/05 Sat

4--This episode had action, humor, and best of all--KEETER! I wish we could have seen more of him. Just another missed opportunity. 2) I really think that at first, Krennick's come ons were more about power, but I think she *did* start to fall for him in time, and her later advances may well have been more about sex. And I do think they made Harm uncomfortable. She was a senior officer, and I don't think he had been at JAG that long at that point. And besides, why mess with her when he had MECMG? LOL! 3) Krennick was probably talking more about herself than about AJ. Although maybe he was like that early in his career, but just mellowed with age as some of you have suggested. 4) This apartment was definitely better looking on the outside, but, like most of you, I like "North of Union Station" better--it had more of the bachelor pad feel and had Harm's mark on it. Besides, it seems like his season 1 apartment kept changing. Although, N of U S *did* change once for the Annie love scene. LOL! (NT) -- JAG Junkie, 08:11:06 07/16/05 Sat

JJ, I don't think MECMG was the reason Harm wouldn't mess with Krennick. I think it was his morals and loyalty to the navy and it's rules that kept him from it. (NT) -- judi, 11:03:37 07/16/05 Sat

Judi, I agree totally! I was just making a joke. (NT) -- JAG Junkie, 14:45:32 07/16/05 Sat

Relying on memory since I can't find my tape-- I give it a 4--I loved the flying-- the trickiery and the undoing of the trickery...lol. I love Keeter, also. I never liked Krennick and making a 'game' of sexual harrassment never played very well for me. I don't think Harm was particularly threatened by her but he shouldn't have had to make choices to get around her. I liked AJ better once he was more fully formed-and no place can ever compare with North of Union Station.......!! (NT) -- manette, 17:43:09 07/16/05 Sat
