I think it had to be before "up against the wall". The shows indicated considerable time between the pilot and Season 1, ep 1. And Kate did say to Mace that they weren't usually partnered. (NT) -- clr, 22:08:07 05/13/05 Fri

Both good points, I just assumed they didn't know each other since she had NO idea of his history. But then, I guess one night of passion wouldn't require that. There was a statement somewhere that they "worked together sometimes" or had worked together before. Anyway, as manette said, according to the guy who wrote the script, the 'interlude' happened BEFORE we ever met them, so I guess he would know. I'll believe that TD said at some point the fling was before the pilot. I'd be interested to know when he first said that, because in the pilot, Harm says to Kate, "Not all women have a problem with having lovers" or something along those lines. Then there is the scene where Harm says, "You know what they say about dress whites and gold wings" and she asks him. "They'll get you in bed anywhere," - he grins and she says, "Not here." The whole tenor of their conversations throughout the episode sounds like Harm would like to have a fling and Kate turns him down. At the very end, on the COD to Naples, Kate mentions gold wings and white uniforms and there is the implication that they will now work for Harm with Kate. When Kate tells Mac about it, it sounds like Harm was the one who got cold feet. So things changed somewhere along the way. Anyway, it sure sounds like they had the fling that night in Naples after the board of inquiry, based on the dialogue.(NT)-- Ann, 00:26:49 05/14/05 Sat

I think the concept was that they'd had a short term fling and then were going to be put into a partnership once the show was a series and have to deal with the fall out of that attraction. Harm was awfully territorial about her in the pilot if they didn't have a history. I think by the time we got to Touch and Go the writers wanted Harm to be the one that couldn't work with a partner who knew the color of his underwear and since the planned partnership of h/k never materialized on screen they thought they could bend it to better fit the way Harm had been protrayed thru the years. They were on a plane at the end of Ares, but I think Harm was buzzed by the flight attendant & pulled off, like he was in the beginning. I don't think it was Kate with him on the plane in the beginning. Also at the end, I think he makes a comment that they will be staying in separate rooms. Yup, from what I remember from "Ares" it was pretty clear Harm and Kate were "just friends" by then. In T&G, her life isn't going as well as she wants, at least her personal life, it seems. Kate seems to hint that she wouldn't mind 'rekindling' the interlude, but knew that between Renee and Mac there was no way it was going to happen if she came to HQ.
