What It's About --

Harm and Bud investigate the fatal mid-air collision of a Marine helicopter with an unknown flying object. Meanwhile back in Washington, Mac considers her future with JAG and with Dalton Lowne.

Reasons to Watch – Harm in khakis, Bud being adorable and a nifty guest appearance by Randolph Mantooth as a Marine CO. We also get to see a slightly different, dazzled view of Major Sarah MacKenzie.

Reasons to Tape – This episode marks the introduction of the ever-evil Clark Palmer into the JAG universe. If you ever wondered where he came from, this is the place. There is also a rather nifty chase sequence at the end with Harm at his "fighting the forces of evil" best. For shippers, this is a must-see. The episode marks a major turning point in Mac's relationship with Dalton – and, therefore, with Harm. The final scene is a classic, which has spawned its share of debates over just what she meant with that line about "Tomcats." I love it.

In the grand scheme of things, although their main plots differ, I have always felt that "Impact" should be considered a two-parter along with "People v. Rabb" which followed.
The "A" story about the helo crash investigation is fun, thanks to Bud, and not as predictable as you might think. But, it's the "B" story that continues on – and in some ways, continues on to this day. This ep is one of my favorites. Don't miss it.
