The Prisoner – Season 1

What It's About

Harm is held captive in a Chinese Army prison while Meg and Krennick desperately search for him in Hong Kong.

Reasons to Watch – Harm under interrogation matching wits with his beautiful Chinese captor, Meg and Krennick on the prowl and Harm's conversations with a certain other "prisoner."

Reasons to Tape – This episode is one the most tightly written of season 1 featuring several stand-out scenes: Meg and Krennick's "cards on the table" talk about their feelings for Harm, Allison Krennick's "handling" of Under Secretary Baird as they seek his help in getting Harm freed and Harm's recitation of the famous "name, rank and serial number" speech given by all prisoners of war. Trivia buffs will also be interested in the real low-down on a certain, elusive, Spanish beauty and the origins of the HR2 signature mentioned in later eps.

"The Prisoner" is one of my all-time favorite eps featuring a standout performance by DJE in a challenging role. (It's also one of the few times I felt sorry for Krennick.) Whether or not you are a big fan of season 1, "The Prisoner" is a must-see for fans of good writing, fine performances and insights into the assembled characters. I highly recommend it.
