Ares – Season 1

What It's About

When a Navy lieutenant is murdered in Okinawa, Harm re-teams with Kate Pike on an investigation that takes them, and Meg Austin, to a destroyer engaged in war games off the coast of North Korea.

Reasons to Watch – Harm in khakis, Harm's arms in short-sleeves, Harm and Kate renewing "old times" and some nifty "Action Harm" sequences as they stalk the bad guys and save the day. There's one particular scene involving Harm, a gun and Kate's other ex-lover that's tense, to say the least. LOL!

Reasons to Tape – This was the last episode officially made for NBC, and a fairly adventurous one at that. There is plenty of daring-do as our hero tries to keep a war game from turning deadly for the sailors on our side – including Meg. His hunt for the saboteur leads to plenty of "Action Harm" sequences as well. And speaking of action, for those who need the occasional reminder that our boy can flirt outrageously well, this is a must-see. His early encounters with Kate are classic. He even gets to show his jealous side. For fans of Kate Pike, this is your third and last chance to see her before her eventual guest appearance in "Touch and Go" in season 6. (It's also provides the background for the "evidence" Singer digs up at that trial.)

All in all, this is a fitting end to the "experiment" NBC made of "JAG." They wanted an action show, and this episode certainly fits the bill. It has all the elements of a fairly good action movie done on a smaller scale. It also has Harm. 'Nuf said.

*One item of note: Every time this ep is shown someone notices the name "Pendry" on the helmet of one of the fighter pilots and assumes that it's Luke Pendry (Annie's husband). It's not. Once and for all, Luke Pendry was killed in an earlier ep "Pilot Error." The shot of that pilot was recycled into this ep accidentally. (because they thought no one would notice. LOL!)

** Secondly, "Skeleton Crew" was actually the last ep shot for NBC, but it was never shown in the U.S.
