In reply to: judi 's message, "Last night made me angry! No, not the wonderful previews you silly buggers. The episode did. . . Inside" on 23:15:09 04/26/05 Tue

Yeah, I hear you RDOL. Even though we tired (and sometimes came close to succeeding) in finding "motivation" for the characters odd behavior, it really all boiled down to terribly poor scripts, writers who didn't seem to know their characters and the stubborn avoidance of doing what was OBVIOUS to everyone who'd watched the show more than twice. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^< who thinks they could have done well showing the PROFESSIONAL difficulties a two military career couple face--I never really considered that Harriet was a "career" officer, 13:07:14 04/23/05 Sat

I agree with you CM. I could see at least one season with them trying to date around their careers. (NT) -- judi, 13:22:16 04/23/05 Sat

I've been saying all along - if they had brought this guy in for season nine to replace singer - left sturgis as harm's buddy. Kept Webb as the occasional cia spook they always dreaded and counted on - and let Harm and Mac get closer as had been planned for season 8 before the pregnancies and NCIS - we would still have a fun show anticipating season 11. (NT) -- Chris K, 13:09:19 04/23/05 Sat

You are so right, Chris. Ever since they tried to shoot around CB's pregnancy, things changed in that office. (NT) -- judi not blaming CB for getting preggers but blaming TPTB who couldn't come up with a better scenario to cover it, 13:23:43 04/23/05 Sat

Exactly, it wasn't CB's fault - it was TPTB's. There was a vast number of storylines they could've created, but they ended up taking an entire year to make up for the Paraguay trilogy. It's a shame, really... (NT) -- DJEgirl... who always found it odd that they had to "make" Harriet pregnant and keep Mac from it. LOL, 13:29:01 04/23/05 Sat

There was no real reason to take a year on the Paraguay arc, either. It could have been wrapped up in a few episodes last year. Even if they wanted the Harm in the CIA episodes, when he came back, they could have had him and Mac be friendly and moving toward a relationship. Heck, they could have used his absence from the Navy to bring them together. But nooo... they had to change 3/4 of the characters' personalities, and ruin the show. Last night was the JAG I love. (NT) -- Ann, 13:44:30 04/23/05 Sat

There was no reason not to have returned with the original plan in season nine of getting them closer - once season nine started I blame NCIS for DPB's dismissal of JAG's future (NT) -- Chris K, 13:49:20 04/23/05 Sat

I agree with all of you that we've been deprived of two wonderful seasons & proabably an 11th but remember the underlying reason this all happened was twofold: CB's pregnancy & DPB's anger at DJE's contract. He was not happy about the $$ & CBS told him they didn't want JAG without DJE so DPB was stuck. I really think he decided to freeze DJE out of the series and that's what he got busy doing with the resultant mess we've seen in 9 and 10. That's my opinion only. When DJE did the Boston College Master Class on April 19, he did say things changed with his costar's pregnancy & that's all he said about it. And then, as you pointed out, they handled it all wrong, went for the Paraguay thread, etc. REALLY, this mess started with the NCIS pilot eps. It's never been the same since. I've never gotten over the weirdness of DJE being indicted for murder & his JAG friends & colleagues having almost no reaction to it & AJ immediately telling everybody they could have no contact with Harm. That sort of began to isolate him while the others morphed into all kinds of goofy personas over the next two years.-- denny594, 14:59:48 04/23/05 Sat

I enjoyed the episode as well. Too bad we didn’t get more of these this year. It was nice to not have the ripped from the headlines story or be in Iraq. I loved the humor and to actually get a few scenes with H/M interacting was awesome. And Bud was great in this, way to go Bud. Loved Mac she was great loved her at the fax machine with Harm and Vic and how she gave Bud the idea. As always Harm was great and really showed up TNG. (NT) -- Hope, 13:14:17 04/23/05 Sat

I agree Hope but it wasn't just this year. We saw almost no office dynamics last season. I didn't see any of the caring we were used to seeing among our favorite characters. (NT) -- judi, 13:24:50 04/23/05 Sat

I agree Judi all last year and this year that is what has been missing. That feeling of friendship and family. I have missed that the most next to having so little H/M interaction. (NT) -- Hope, 13:33:00 04/23/05 Sat

I hate to say this people but if they had created the 'buddy buddy' thing right away - it probably would have looked trite and somewhat patronizing. This episode was good only because we saw what a jerk Vuc was before. You can't manufacture feelings at will - they must be developed. Right? (NT) -- Nan, 13:16:30 04/23/05 Sat

Nan, I didn't want a buddy-buddy thing either. But it could be Harm as a relunctant mentor and Vic as a relunctant mentoree. (NT) -- judi, 13:26:02 04/23/05 Sat

Yeah but if Harm talked down to Vuk from the beginning like that - it would have made Harm look like a jerk. I'm not saying that they couldn't have come to this a different way (one that we might have all enjoyed more) I'm just saying, I can see how they did it. (NT) -- Nan, 13:48:28 04/23/05 Sat

Yes, I think this is one of the best episodes this season. The JAG of old is back. I just loved the interactions between Harm and Mac and Bud!! :):) I love Bud :).... and I love Mac.. I love Harm... I love Harm and Mac.... :):)! (NT) -- Acer, 13:20:36 04/23/05 Sat

Acer, its the old gang back again for one episode. Sigh! And that's what makes me mad. (NT) -- judi, 13:26:57 04/23/05 Sat

At least this was the second to last episode and not JAG SD. (NT) -- Hope, 13:30:14 04/23/05 Sat

Judi, I know.......S10 could have been a great season!! (NT) -- Acer, 13:45:22 04/23/05 Sat

It's just one big love fest isn't it Acer. (NT) -- Hope - waving hi to Acer, 13:28:27 04/23/05 Sat

Hee heee...................... :):)!! .... and this is the kind of show that got me hooked at the first place!! (NT) -- Acer, 13:44:00 04/23/05 Sat

I agree. It sort of stings seeing the Harm/Mac/Bud interaction of old. At least they got it in the groove once more before the end. And I love Bud. He was terrific and we haven't seen his charm lately. (NT) -- PB, 13:29:38 04/23/05 Sat

Well, PB, it is the second to the last ep and if they don't disappoint next week, I can still watch and enjoy reruns. (NT) -- judi, 13:35:34 04/23/05 Sat

IMO last night just proves DPB could have given us this a long time ago, with or without the new people this show could have survived had the great one not been so power hungry. What I don't get is why? The great one seems to have thrived on giving us exactly what we didn't want. Now at the end he gives us what we wanted & makes us want more and more of it. Instead of doing the right thing 2 yrs ago and making loads more money for himself I feel like he's flipping us off. (NT) -- Samgiz, 13:34:14 04/23/05 Sat

That's my point, Samgiz. He could have had it the last two sesons but instead we got a bunch of characters at odds or ignoring each other. (NT) -- judi, 13:36:36 04/23/05 Sat

Maybe at some point JAketing stategy.G will go to DVD as Quatum Leap recently did and leaving us wanting more is a marketing strategy. (NT) -- PB, 13:39:02 04/23/05 Sat
Sorry for typos. I'm getting old. (NT) -- PB, 13:39:42 04/23/05 Sat

The Jag I watched last nite, was the Old Jag, I was accustomed to. Mac, was BACK. Harm,oh, so dreamy. Bud, superb. Why couldn't this season, begin like this? (NT) -- Lucy,MillitaryMom, who is heartbroken, nomore Harm/Jag, 13:46:56 04/23/05 Sat

It takes too much energy to be happy and mad at the same time...so I'm gonna stick with happy at least until I see next week...then I will go back to regreting the way they wasted season ten...I enjoyed the episode...even a few of the Vuk parts because they were funny -somewhere between namby and pamby..lol...and also because I enjoyed seeing him interact with Harm. Tired and exhausted and dead on his feet, Harm still towered over Vic and not just physically. Loved Bud and Mac and Harm in this...yeah it seemed like old JAG!! (NT) -- manette saving my energy for my happy dances, 14:06:19 04/23/05 Sat

I LOVED the previews and am waiting with bated breath for next week. The more I think about it - the more I'm convinced that the same DPB ego that has given us so much trouble in the past is going to give us one hell of finale... HEE HEEE (NT) -- Chris K - who is only going to watch her favorite eps forever anyway. LOL, 14:18:22 04/23/05 Sat

Judi, I wrote to HarrietJAG with the same idea and an "if only" this could have been the last two years, it wouldn't be cancelled. (NT) -- navybrat (barb), 17:03:55 04/23/05 Sat
