Subject: The A story. Was there an A story
In reply to: - 's message, "season eight: Fortunate Son, March 18, 2003" on 01:40:47 03/21/03 Fri

We've been only discussing the retaliatory behavior of Lindsey in the B story.

But there was an A story too and it was very personal to Harm. I was interested in the A story. I like the idea that a 4 year old who was saved by our marines, grew up and wanted to give something back to the country that saved him. What a great story!!!

Obviously, Harm thought so as well and it touched him. But he kept getting incriminating information on the marine that kept frustrating Harm's efforts. As what so often happens in mysteries, you get the truth only in parts, so it was up to Harm to figure out what happened. He just couldn't believe that this man with this character would be involved in a sweat shop like that. And Harm, of course, turned out to be mostly right.

As for the Gym connection, by saving those young Viet Namese girls and allowing them to stay in America, in his mind, he was saving Gym - even if only symbolically. And Harm felt it, maybe now he can have closure on Gym.
We haven't had much this season in the way what goes on in Harm's head (stop it Trish, not that head) But here we did and I loved it.
