My take on Need to Know -

A very good and very emotional episode. I liked that Harm, Mac and Sturgis all worked together on this one - which only seemed fitting since Sturgis is the submariner among them. The story that unfolded was powerful. It shows just what lengths the government felt it had to take in order to keep their secret. When Harm was looking at the wall of Stars and talking to Webb about closure for the people left behind, he of course, was speaking about himself and his father - at least that was my take. I think that speech helped sway Webb to help Harm uncover the truth. I don't know why Webb bothers to protest to Harm in the first place, he always seems to give in anyway.

The secondary story of Bud overcoming his own obstacles was woven into the main story very nicely. I felt his pain, both physically and emotionally, with every step. IMO, they are handling this storyline with great integrity. I would think both Bud and Harriett’s reactions are right on the money.

I must admit to having tears in my eyes when they showed the burial at sea of the submarine’s crew to their families. Very emotional. And Harms conversation with Webb about his new assignment seems to be a good set up to get Mac involved in something covert to cover her absence toward the end of the year.

All in all, an excellent episode IMO!
