If you’ve ever wanted to see Harm in his dress white chasing the bad guy with gun in hand, this is the episode for you!

It is an action-oriented episode with a generous serving of Webb in his best “snake-in-a-sharkskin-suit” mode. LOL! The main plot concerns a covert mission, organized by Webb, against a Colombian drug lord that went wrong. During the mission, one Marine is killed and another might have contributed to the death by freezing up under fire. Webb wants him prosecuted for “cowardice, dereliction of duty or whatever else you can charge him with,” but Mac isn’t so sure. The performance of that Marine continues to be an issue as our heroes pursue the main objective -- the recovery of the body of the dead Marine being ransomed by the drug lord.

This episode might seem a bit “off-beat” to many long-time JAG watchers. While it was broadcast about halfway through Season 2, it was obviously written much earlier before the Harm / Mac dynamic was firmly established. They are very cagey with one another – almost formal in a couple of places – but this episode features the “almost kiss” of gratitude that Mac starts to plant on Harm’s lips only to think better of it. While “Full Engagement” is considered by many to be the first, real shipper ep, this “almost kiss” was actually the first indication that TPTB might be considering a “ship” of any kind.

For Harm watchers, the best thing about the ep has to be Harm looking gorgeous in his dress whites. He’s still a cigar smoker here and uses that “prop” to great advantage in a scene where he is “negotiating” with the drug lord. Cat and mouse all the way! If you’ve ever wondered how DJE could be considered for the role of James Bond, you won’t after watching that scene. It’s the sly side of Harm at his best!

While this has never been one of my favorite episodes, and not even my favorite from Season 2, it’s still worth your time if only for the dress whites and cigars. You must see it once, but if it’s a rerun, you might give it a pass.
