Date Posted: 16:53:38 03/27/06 Mon I am looking to purchase a metal detector, but I don't want to misstep in the wrong direction. My neighbor has a Minelab Sovergin GT, and it works just fine. However, I intend to search mostly on the beach in or near the surf (we live a few blocks from the ocean, by Asbury Park, New Jersey). I have heard it would be a better idea to purchase a model designed for wet work. My son (14 years old) and I intend to follow this wholeheartedly, good exercise and a great challange, so I don't mind buying a fairly good detector. So I figured, why not ask folks who live near the ocean and take their fun seriously. I would appreciate any suggestions you care to offer.
