Subject: Shame On You

I have been upset since this happened the other day, what have we become that helping someone in need is frowned upon by some.

Shame On You

To drive that day was quite the feat
With all of the roads an icy sheet
I slowed with care and came to stop
The intersection greasy, full of slop
I spotted an elderly lady standing there
In cautioned step she edged with care
Then stepping back her cane in tow
Looked perplexed, was afraid to go
My four way flashers switch I hit
And left my truck in park to sit
And eased my way to her position
To help her in this road's transition
No more than half the way was made
Towards the end of our crusade
When honking sounds came to ear
The lady startled, stiffened in fear
Behind my truck a car did wait
Impatience on his nerves did grate
Because we stayed him from his path
He subjected us to his vulgar wrath
I reassured her in a most gentle voice
And explained to him he had no choice
But wait till she was safely crossed
Again with cursing did he us accost
I paid no mind and eased her on
Till other sidewalk had been won
And saw her safely on her way
Then looked at him in great dismay
How could a person be so shallow
In his own selfish needs to wallow
I was tempted then to make him wait
But that would make him more irate
I eased my vehicle onto the street
Then looking back his face to greet
And sent a gaze with subtle clue
Then mouthed the words, "Shame On You"

Brian
