Subject: Sunrise Serenade

Sunrise Serenade

The sky is layered bright pink and blue
With orange streaks just peeking through
And up above the golden hue
Fading stars show that night is through
Below the horizon is mirrored sky
On waters calm it does softly lie
A picture double rich and grand
That God has painted by his hand
And now I hear the bird's first song
Calling the sunrise to come along
It chirps and trills in constant call
To try to raise that fiery ball
And rejoices loudly at first sight
Of a sliver of bright orange light
Next comes the loon's long serenade
From soft to high then softly fade
A call of longing, an echoed piece
That calms my mind and grants me peace
And through the morning mist I sight
Four baby loons are following tight
The insects then begin their chirping
From the grasses in which they're lurking
And minnows surface to take a peek
Then quickly down, the depths they seek
Then the first caress of gentle breeze
To stir the foliage of the trees
And like a maestro with their sway
Conducts the serenade, leads the way
Of all God's given sights and wonder
The most effective one to ponder
Is the music and beauty I'd surmise
Of this magnificent day's sunrise
