Date Posted: 20:10:32 06/17/02 Mon *He finishes oiling the harness he had boughten at a used tack sale several years ago, then goes to catch his new gelding from the paddock. the chestnut walks up to him suspiciously, but allows himself to be caught without a fuss. Mikki leads him to the barn and grooms his sleek coat until it shines. Then he puts the harness on the horse carefully adjusting it to fit the gelding before bridling him and leading him outside to where Saddle's old driving cart was sitting, waiting. Saddle follows Mikki and Colonel out and helps Mikki hook him to the cart properly, then holds his head for Mikki to get in. Mikki gets in and sits in the seat, gathering the driving reins and his driving whip then Saddle steps back and Mikki flicks the whip, telling Colonel to walk. the horse moves foward willingly, moving perfectly. Soon Mikki asks for a trot and the horse responds by moving into a speedy trot. Mikki slows him down a little, then heads for the trails, carefully chosing only the widest trails. Colonel trots down the trails beautifully, chewing the bit and picking up his feet elegantly. Mikki smiles to himself, then slows the horse to a walk and allows him to relax as the wander down the trails. soon Mikki starts to head Colonel back to the farm. the gelding speeds up his walk a little but Mikki slows him down instantly. Colonel snorts and shakes his head in protest, but then slows to the pace Mikki requested. when the arrive back at the barn Saddle asks "How was he?" Mikki smiles and replies "Great!" then Saddle grabs the horse's head again and Mikki unhooks him from the cart and leads the horse to the barn to take off his harness and hoses him off in the wash stall before turning him out again and re-cleaning the beautiful black leather harness.* [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
