Date Posted: 20:22:59 06/17/02 Mon  FIREFLY: ________________________________________________________ *Joey: ________________________________________________________ *I walked ou to the pasture and found my palomino haflinger gelding,Mr. Snazzy grazing with the other geldings.I hooked the lead rope I was carrying to his halter and led him up to the barn.I clipped crossties to his halter and then I groomed him and tacked him up.I led him to the arena and got on him from the mounting block.Next,I warmed him up and then I cantered a courtesy circle with him.We headed to the first jump,a 3'3 spread.Mr. Snazzy flew over it and I made him make a tight turn to the next jump,a 3' oxer.I then jumped him over a 3'9 wall,a 3'6 liverpool,a 3'3 brushbox,a 39' oxer and fianally,I hand galloped him to the last jump,a big 3'9 wishing well jump.I circled Snazzy in a courtesy circle and then walked him out.I led him back to the barn and untacked him and turned him out in the pasture.Then I grabbed my new horse,Boomerangs halter and attached a lead rope to it.I lead Boom up to the barn and groomed his bay coat for a long time until it shone.Then I tacked him up in a western barrel racing saddle and a western bridle.I led him out to a arena where my mom,Dana was waiting to give me a lesson on Boomerang.I warmed Boom up at a walk,trot and canter and then headed over to the big arena that contained 3 barrels in a cloverleaf pattern.I walked Boom to the starting place and my mom called "ready,set,GO!!!I squeezed boomerang and he shot off at a gallop.I steered him around the first barrel,the second and the third.Then I squeezed on the reins and Boomerang dropped down to a walk.My mom called "you guy's gotta awesome time!!!Good job Joey!!I think you and Boomerang are going to make a great team"! I replied "yep,I think so".I walked out Boomerang and untacked him,gave him some peppermints and turned him out in the pasture with his buddies Chesapeake Bay and Mr. Snazzy. ________________________________________________________ *Jasmine ________________________________________________________ I headed out to the mares pasture and got my beautiful 5 y/o chestnut Thoroughbred mare,Firefly.I clipped a lead rope to her brand new leather halter and led her inside where I hooked herin the crossties,groomed her and tacked her up in a jumping saddle and a snaffle bridle.I led her out to the jumping arena and mounted her using the mounting block.She walked off with a long smooth gait,and then I walked,trotted and cantered her around the arena until she was warmed up.Then I cantered a courtesy circle with her and headed her towards the first jump in the hunter course,a 2 foot single she jumped over it gracefully.Then on to the 2'3 oxer and then we completed the rest of the course in the same fashion.I jumped the course in th other direction with her and then quickly walked her out because it looked like it was going to rain soon.I brought her back into the barn where horses were being led inside because of the lightning that just started happening.When I was done grooming and untacking her,all of the other horses were in there stalls munching on flakes of hay.I put Firefly in her stall and then went to help with barn chores. ________________________________________________________ [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
