When Rose suddenly dropped to the ground as if she had fainted, the bay mare started a bit until she was sure Rose was alright physically.
No words were spoken from One for Sorrow's mouth as Desert Rose retold the story of her mother's death and Sulton's undying determination to get Rose. It weighed heavy upon Sorrow's heart that another horse could do such a thing to his own kin. It immediatly reminded her of the stories she had heard about humans and her stomach churned inside her, giving her a nausious feeling.
Sorrow stood there for a moment, speechless even after Rose had finished. There was no doubt or hesitation in the bay mare's mind whether or not she would pose as a mother-figure for Rose until she was old enough and more experienced.
Spreading her legs and bending slightly, Sorrow nuzzled Rose like a mother would do to her foal,
"I won't leave you, Rose, not until the fates call me, and I'll do everything in my power to protect you and teach you." she said, lifting her head again and rotating her ears about her to be sure Sulton wasn't going to make another move. Once she was sure he wasn't around, she sighed one last time and said, "But I don't know what we're going to do about Desperado and Fury."
In truth, she hadn't seen Fury all that much lately, and she wondered if he was still apart of this herd (*hinthint* Sheskey... if you're reading this ^_^). If he wasn't, then it was no loss to her. She'd gladly become a harem-less mare once more, or else join Desperado, if he at all wanted her.
Shaking her head, her mane flowing about, Sorrow lowered her head again and nudged Rose up,
"Come on now, Rose, we really have to go away from this place. We're too far away from the herd for our own good."
