That's our opinion...which we're entitled to. And if you're going to put out an album for the masses and perform in FRONT of the masses, then, as a performer, you have to be prepared for critics with both RAVE reviews and "thumbs down" reviews.
Lisa Marie didn't sound good Saturday, and that was the WIDELY held perception among the crowd where we were. If you heard us talk about it Monday, then you'll recall that I said that maybe the sound guys weren't doing her justice, maybe she had a cold, what-have-you...but that for whatever reason, she sounded awful.
She did,in my opinion. I love her song - on the air. Her being Elvis Presley's daughter doesn't "earn" her the right to make millions if she can't perform. So my initial reaction to her on-stage performance was "I wonder if her singing had been "enhanced" in the production studio?" After Saturday, I think it's a valid question. We ran "Milli Vanilli" out on a rail in the mid-'80s for not being the "real" performers, remember?
Hey, like I said...I love the song .... ON THE AIR. I just don't think she performed well Saturday. It may be an isolated situation.
Oh, and I have sung on the air before, when pressured to "karaoke." :) I dunno that it was all that good...but that's not what I'm making money doing.
