Really? *he gasps, blinking in disbelief. He swallows hard, barely able to contain tears of amazement and joy. But knowing how she feels, he takes a step back and says quietly,* Anything you want, I'll try to give you. And right now, you probably want to be alone, and that's fine . . . I'll go to my room. *He walks slowly to the door and then turns. He meets her gaze and says in a quietly passionate tone,* I do know this: no one could love you as much as I do. *Then he backs out of the room and gently closes the door. He goes back to his chamber, feeling as though he is walking on clouds, yet feeling the pain of her betrayal at the same time.*
