Nah, I'm not offended by anything you said. I'm just lazy about responding to things sometimes.

What I mean about believing in yourself is that it helps immensely if you realize there is Divinity within you. In the orient there is a word of greeting, "Namaste", which is said with a bow and the palms of the hands pressed together at the forehead. The term "Namaste" means, "The Divinity within me recognizes the Divinity within you." In 'The Charge of the Goddess' the last line usually reads, "That which you can not find within yourself, you will not find anywhere else." This means no one can give or impose the realization of the Divine upon anyone. Discovery of the Divine is, by necessity, a personal journey. Here's another link that I find quite relevant in exploring the spiritual path. http://www.digiserve.com/mystic/ This site explores the spiritual journey in the Jewish, Christian, Islamic/Sufic, Hindu, Buddhist and Taoist paradigms. It claims that there is a reality beyond the mundane world that is uncreated, pervades all, and is beyond rational human understanding. The individual approaches this reality by distinguishing ego from true self, understanding the nature of desire, becomming unattached, forgetting about preferences, not working for personal gain, letting go of thoughts, redirecting attention, becomming devoted and humble, invoking the uncreated reality, and surrenduring to the uncreated reality.

The uncreated reality approaches the individual through its nature (grace) and the teacher, many of whom are quoted on this site.

The individual becomes one with the uncreated reality by dying to the illusions of this life and being reborn to the uncreated reality, realization or the attainment of awareness sometimes called "seeing the light", experiencing union with the uncreated reality, and/or experiencing the freedom that results from renunciation of the ego and union with the Divine.

From my Pagan point of view I really don't care whether or not you believe any of this or not, for the spiritual journey is a personal journey. Your way may be different from mine and mine from yours. That's OK. I believe we're all a part of the same uncreated reality that is our source and destiny. No one gets damned, no one remains unchanged, no one keeps their ego illusion. All rivers reach the sea no matter what path they take. The sea evaporates to create the clouds which create all rivers. Source and destiny are one and unavoidable.
