For everyone that wasn't there, you really missed out. Nonaroo 2002 on Transylvania Ave in Lexington, Ky rocked the casba. I especially liked the acoustic stage. By the end of the night we saw collaborations from members of 8 different bands and saw some impromtu song creation. At times, the audience was even able to participate in creating this music. It's the first festival in which both the audience and bands passed it to the left togehter in one big loving circle. We had word today from Festival organizer, Roddy Pucket, that clean up was successful despite the abundance of disgarded bottles and that the crowd was generally well behaved with only one minor injury and no arrests. He has also assured us of a repeat next year but with a possible change in venue As for the many collaborations throughout the night, I believe the evening began with members of Bluegrass collective and Sunpoodle, Roddy Pucket(also of Green Genes, Riverside Project, the New Ky String Ticklers and Born Cross Eyed) on Bass, Danny Williams(also of the New Ky String Ticklers and Dreadnot) on Mando, and The Dover on Guitar and stick. They were later joined by Jed on Mando of I Sit In With Just About Anyone and former member of Bluegrass Collective. A late night appearance by lead guitarist of Bluegrass Collective, Dreadnot and Born Crosseyed, Lee Owen, topped off the night. So the mix of musical talent spicing up the Nonaroo scene was like none I have ever seen. More could have come and gone but I went to sleep. The mix of music ranged from traditional bluegrass to new grass to dawg grass to bore grass with hints of blues, 80's rock, theme songs, dead songs, ambient jazz, gangster rap, and some hee haw freestyle. Parking and Traffic: That was the other great thing about this new festival. There was absolutely no traffic on the way into Nonaroo. The lights on Nicholasville Road aren't timed very well so if you came in this way, you might have had some delays. Also, I do remeber one instance when Augi waited atleast 30 seconds as someone left so that he could park closer to the venue. Most people were able to park within 50 yrds of the main stage. I almost had to park across the street but luckily I was able to sneak into the musicians parking area right next to the stage.
