This being my first experience with the All American Miss pageant system I was sure what to expect. It was beautifully set up and run very smoothly. There was a small thing that did catch my attention and I found it rather appalling. While getting ready for my next competition there was some comotion. After the childerns sportswear catagory SB had slipped while performing her routine. Her mother Matoy Best was highly aggitated with SB and clearly showed it while still in the ballroom where competition was still taking place. After returning back to the dressing rooms while entering the door I heard awful curse words being used towards this 12 year old girl because she had slipped. There had to be at least 15-25 people in the room when she decided to forcefully dragged SB by the arm to get her ready for her next event. The people that was present during the situation was in awe and complete disbelief. Apparently the child was alread crying and her mom was being of no help. While getting her ready the cursing continued and then Matoy Best slapped SB across the face and insisted that she stop crying before messing up her makeup. Someone reported it to the Civic Center Manager, she immediately addressed the situation with the mother, and stated that she would not allow that to happen. As the manager walked away Matoy said some things that shouldn't have been said to the manager and the manager said that she would just call the police and Matoy said that was fine. Someone was called, I believe it was security and the whole Best family was made to sit in the back of the ballroom for the remainder of the night.
Do you find this appropiate behavior for pageant parents? Would you allow this to happen in your presence? Is this any way to treat a child that was trying her best to do well and please her mom. Isn't that what most pageants consider bad sportsmanship and that is usually the last time they are welcome there. Why was this director any different? For a director to do nothing, you think about it?

Matoy is not SB's mother, but her sister. She is always onto this child when she doesn't perform up to her expectations.

First of all Matoya is Staceys sister not her mother. And if you know the Best you know this happens all of the time. But if the child is having a good day none of this will ever happen . I think that someone needs to call DHS on her ...it is child abuse in my opinion. Stacey is a great little girl and its very sad that her OLDER sister treats her this way. And you can bet it won't be the last time!! You all should of called the police and not security. She claims to be a cop herself when if fact she's just a security gaurd at a airport. She is known for causing trouble at every pageant she's at. May be someone should let Staceys coach know about all of this. Stacey girl keep your head up you are truly beautiful and I hope God is watching out for you. What comes around goes around and when Matoya meets her maker she will have to answer to him.

My heart goes out to Stacey. She is a beautiful and sweet girl but where is her real mother in all this?

I don't know this lady or this little girl. However, who ever was the person that called DHS GOD loves you and so do I.Now to the people that actually seen this first hand, it is your time to help that fallen angel to rise again. There is no reason for a child to be hit for doing her best. Even if she didn't do her best that is not the way to handle the problem. I say SHAME on that lady and I hope you get what is coming to you.
