Poverty has a way of breeding hate in the hearts of man. First, it makes them selfish; they look out for themselves, and their own survival. Second, they become spiteful of others who have more than them. The spite soon takes over, and eventuall a poor man cannot stand the sight of anyone being happy. Carnage follows in the wake of poverty, and it is always the innocent who get hurt the most.
"GRENADE!" The owner yelled as he ducked behind the counter.
"Every behind the counter, now!" Apadrino shouted as he turned a table over to catch any shrapnel that would fly in his direction. Some of the kids began screaming; the older ones tried to get the younger ones to calm down, and get to the counter.
The grenade went off with a defeaning bang. Followed by the silence of stunned children.
Through the smoke Apadrino saw three figures standing. He was not in the mood to work, but in his proffession, choosing when to work was a luxury seldom enjoyed. "Tony, get these kids outta here!" Apadrino yelled as he drew a pair of plasma blasters.
Apadrino set the blasters to 1000 degrees, a medium setting. It would be able to damage just about any body armor, but the recoil would still be small enough for shots to be accurate. Apadrino got up from behind the table, and sent plasma slugs in the direction of his attackers.
