There are only 7 Super Bowls in Eastern Mass, not 12. This went into affect last season (2001). There are 12 semi-final round games played on the Tuesday night after T'Day with the winners squaring off in the Super Bowls Sat-Sun. In Division 7, there is no semi-final round. Just a Final Super Bowl game between the winner of the Mayflower Small and the Boston Small Leagues. Playoffs are the best thing to happen to EMass Football because it allowed the opportunity to reduce the # of champions = 1 champion in each division, as opposed to the old format (1991-2000) which was the 12-13 Super Bowls format you refered to.
It would be great to match the Div 1-6 EMass champions vs the Div 1-3A champions from C/WMass. Unfortunately moving the winter sports back a week is like trying to move the Statue of Liberty. However, such a move could open the door for some great State Championship Football Games. Based on last year's champions you would have matchups like:
Everett vs St Johns(Shrewsbury)
Acton-Boxborough vs Springfield Central
Whitman-Hanson vs Northbridge
Bishop Feehan vs Springfield Commerce
Bellingham vs Clinton
Marian vs Bay Path
What a treat that would be in a perfect world!

Thanks for that info on the EMass bowl games. That's a decent system in EMass, but it still leaves us with 10 superbowls in the state. I like the playoffs, but too many playoff rounds would cut into winter sports for sure and perhaps jeopardize the chance for injury to the players, i.e., the more games, the more chance for injury, but that's debatable, too.

Actually, it leaves us with 13 Super Bowls = 7 in EMass + 6 in C/WMass. Better than the days of 19 SB games statewide, which is what it grew to by 2000. Too bad the mentality wasn't like Texas, a state which doesn't mind HS Football Playoffs up until Christmas. That and a domed stadium would be the recipe for Massacusetts. Unfortunately, that seems to be a little farfetched.

Texas doesn't worry much about hockey season....and I'm sure they fit basketball in after all football playoffs are done.
