New Playoff System??
What do you think about the proposed format in which the number of playoff teams are doubled, and Div 1 first place would play Div 1A 2nd place, Div 1 2nd place would play Div 1A 1st place and so forth? These games would be played Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and winners would go to SuperBowl following weekend. A plus is that CMass would send better teams to the SuperBowl. Personally, I think the playoffs are too watered down as it is, so it doesn't mean enough to make it. The proposal would be twice as bad as what we have now.

I agree, the playoff system as I understand it would be in CMASS would open the door for alot teams to get in the playoffs that dont deserve it. By having a playoff all you are doing is adding another game to the season that could hurt players before they reprsent CMASS in the super bowl vs. WMASS. in all likelyhood the better CMASS team would beat the "second place" CMASS team in the playoffs anyways and we just put CMASS at a disatvantage vs. WMASS.

I've never understood why they can't do an 8 team single elimination state championship at least at the D1 level.
The teams would be the top 2 CMass, the top 2 WMass, and the 4 D1 EMass Conference winners. It would give an opportunity to give EMass the beating they deserve.

Do you really think its fair to put 4 power house east mass teams in the playoff when the only teams that can compete with them are leominster, fitchburg and springfield central year in and out

Unless you want to make D-1 football a statewide thing, and reshape every conference and then go by some sort of rating system, its only fair. The way Massachusetts runs things is really unfair, but you have to work within the system given.
I'm guessing that you believe it would be more fair if we had 6 EMass, 1 CMass, and 1WMass. That may be but we can only go with what we are given and what we are given is conference winners.
If the only teams that are good in CMass are Fitchburg and Leominster so be it. (Well except for the fact that each season I go it with the eternal hope that Leominster will go 0-11).
The fact is we would need at least a preliminary statewide system before deciding otherwise. I am in total agreement (with what you implied) that the 2nd WMass entry would get smoked, but if its going to come down to the 4 EMass powerhouses then let it happen, the other teams couldn't win their conference and shouldn't be there. Also it will end the arguement of EMass supremacy and can Fitchburg (or Spr. Central or Spr. Cathedral or that other school) really beat the top EMass teams.

Think about it in every other team sport a .500 record or better gets u into the post season, in football u could lose only 1 game and right now in Cmass anyway if u could end up watching the play offs or the super bowl from the stands while a team like i think it was leicester last year goes to a super bowl on a 5-6 record because they were 5-0 in their division thats not right..the system has to be changed teams are getting eliminated from conetention right on the first friday night of the school year
