Hi Genn
Although I understand your motives in trying to prevent any potential problems, as a breeder I would worry that I was purely masking any hereditary problems in doing so. I try to let my dogs live as normal life as possible with plenty of hard exercise, a good balanced raw food diet and minimal additives/supplements. This way I can be as sure as I can be that they are not hiding any potential hereditary problems by being "coddled". Although I wouldn't want to see them hurt or injured in any way, I'd rather know about any lurking issues BEFORE they are bred from rather than find out via any offspring owned by other new owners down the line.
As an owner I understand the desire to do the best for your dog, but as a breeder the responsibility is not only to the individual dogs, but to the healthy future of the breed. In my view a Boerboel should be a healthy, hardy dog able to live a normal dog's life without coddling! It doesn't mean they don't need a cuddle from time to time though!

Jenny
