I share your affection for the Grand Old Gent of Boerboels and mourn his passing. He taught me much about this breed and its origins, always with fun and laughter and through his many stories told over a glass of wine I felt that I was hearing about the "real Boerboel". He made it come alive. His constant bemoaning of "too big, too big" stay with me to this day! I loved his dogs and am lucky enough to own one today, a little girl Lucas selected and sent to me after a visit to Mizpah. She is a reminder of what a true Boerboel is all about and the spirit of Mizpah lives on through her and the few other dogs Lucas left behind.
We should never forget his tireless effort to found this breed and without him, none of us would have the breed we have today.
He was a giant of the Boerboel world and with his passing we have lost so much.
