Well, let's see where to begin. A I personally have never hunted anything(other than a human, semper fi) with a gun. It seems to me that a 250-400lb boar vs two catch dogs and my knife is much more fair than a gun. Have you ever done it, I mean stock your freezer with something that you didn't pay for someone ELSE to butcher and process for you?
Think about that next time you eat a burger/chicken sandwich or pork chop. Do you even know how many bullets of anything under a .308 to down a 320lb hog? I didn't think so. Do you even understand what a small group of feral hogs do to the farms and ranch property in my neck of the woods? I didn't think so. Before you speak on subject you undoubtedly have no concept of... do your research.
Everything over 300lbs plus we LIVE-CATCH. That means me a buddy and two dogs catch tie up and transport the hog out of the woods, live. Just because you nor your dogs can do it do make it out to be something it isn't. Next pics of my dogs working cattle, you'll probably get sentimental over the bull that has to be pulled out of a thicket he's hiding in. We down here strive to produce the best WORKING RANCH dogs we possibly can. Maybe you've forgotten the nature of the breed.
ALL of our dogs have spent months on end being pushed and tested on their nerves and temperment and then allowed to show their capabilities thru work. Let me give you an idea, take your dogs to the busiest "PETSMART" in your city, put them in a 10 minute down stay right inside the front doors and walk eight ft away. See how well your dog reacts to the strangers, unbalanced dogs of all sizes and temperments and undisciplined children that approach it. Once you have done so four days a week for six months let me know how they fair. Now assuming your dog hasn't "lost it" and become a puddle of quivering nerves, I want you to take that dog and place him in a working environment where he has to herd/drive a couple head of cattle, find, catch and hold a 270lb russian-crossed boar with 2 1/2 inch cutters or face down an intruder/decoy who is putting alot of pressure on your charge and not giving him a second of breathing room.
We have found only a small number of working dogs have "made the grade" and even fewer boerboels. We are UNAPOLOGETIC in the way we work our dogs because unfortunately we have found very few "WORKING" dog breeders actually work their charges. Most breed untested CRAP to untested CRAP, so in the next decade where will your dogs be? Watered down pretty dogs advertised with a percentage next to their name. We don't advertise our dogs, don't have to they go to ranchers, farmers, outfitters and WORKING dog fanciers.
SO grab your dogs, have your girlfriend/wife give you your testicles back and go work your dog.
