Tina never mentioned any names. She simply issued a warning to others to make sure you do your homework and research before you sell or adopt out a Boerboel. There is no slander in this.

The fact is that Doug Spink's name has been all over the internet for the last 10 years with implications of bestiality. A simple Google search would have turned up a copy of a letter sent to the AKC 10 years ago -- yes 10 years ago -- with implications of Doug's alleged bestiality and animal abuse:

Letter to AKC with Notification of AKC Breeder and Judge Supporting Bestiality

Tina simply took the time to point this out to remind people to do a thorough background search before re-homing their dog. Personally, I would want to be forewarned if I were in this position. Doug's arrest and conviction in 2005 of trying to smuggle over $34 million in cocaine is also public knowledge.

In the e-mail about Rescue, it is pointed out "This is what Rescues do best -- pull them from shelters .... and adopt them ONLY to thoroughly screened homes with personal and veterinary references, background checks and a home visit."

Hmmmm.

Let's let this be a lesson for everyone. Make sure you thoroughly screen adopters before releasing your dog. I am not implicating any Rescues in this, everyone can be lied to and deceived. It is up to us to make sure that we do everything in our power to do accurate background checks.
