I certainly am not against compulsion myself and that has typically been my method of choice. The strong tempered dog with good work ethic but inability to avoid distraction has always been a tough nut for me to crack Norman. As I said with 2 15 min. pointed sessions I noticed a distinct ability for the dog to come to a tighter focus. I also see it's value in recall for the same behavior issues. This particular dog is 3 years old and I have always had some frustration with long distance recall and lack of focus on trainer. I'm going to work him using this method daily in an attempt to correct the lack of focus. It's always great to learn new ways of communicating with the dog. I don't have a problem going backwards in my training if that is what is required. And I am sure that most of his problem lies with his trainer and not him.
