Hey Sam I learned something interesting earlier this year on my horse message board. Some of the gals on there have Clydes and they show them. Interesting they posted pictures of a couple stallions they want to use, I think they did use them actually, but they were show pictures and in a show I learned that for the Clydes and other draft horses, they're supposed to almost touch in the hock...gives them the ability to push from behind and pull from the front when they're hauling big loads. Here's a Shire:

I know some inward angulation is good to a point (cowy) and that straight is bad (eeesh I've seen some straight hocked horses AND dogs...eeesh) but never thought about too much angulation (Sickle hock) up and down would cause a problem in dogs...although it does in horses...maybe I just thought it was because we're riding horses? Dumb reason but very interesting stuff.
