Just an FYI to any buyer considering a Boerboel or any breed really,

Learn what health problems may afflict the breed...in this case one needs to watch out for Hip Dysplasia and other joint issues such as DJD. Also Entropian can crop up as well as the findings that there are dogs out there that do produce Wobblers...buy from a breeder who at least has good knowledge of genetic issues and how they are passed on and who is happy to candidly discuss possible issues with any of the dogs in the pedigree of his or her breeding animals.

Make sure there is a guarantee in place upon purchase, and that the guarantee is to your liking which may or may not include tempermental issues. Have a vet examine puppy once delivered and if any issues should crop up contact the breeder. If the breeder does not seem happy to discuss the puppy's wellbeing and welfare after money has changed hands skip that breeder and find someone who will support your ownership of said dog for the dog's lifetime.

Last but definately not least decide if you want a dog to be a working dog or just a pet and make sure the parents of the dog have proven themselves on a test field or through work etc. and if no test or certification can be found request to meet the dogs and see them work either through video or in person.

Above all don't pick a breeder based on some romantic and fancy little blurb posted on a breed specific message board. If at all possible rescue first should a cantidate be suitable for your family and uses.

Sara
