Remember the phrase "you are what you eat"? That is also true in animals such as dogs.

There is publication after publication about what is in cheap mass produced food such as dog chow. Much of it is grain type filler, which provide little nutritional value. It's not that the dog cannot surive on crappy food, it's that why not spend a little more money and get on a more nutritious food. The level of human and dog's immune systems are related to the quality of the overall diet.

I suggest you see the documentary "supersize me". It was on HBO several years ago. Has nothing to do with dogs, but everything to do with how bodies handle crappy food. It's worth looking at, as the principle is the same.

By the way, I never feed my kids Mcdonalds hamburgers and cheetos, I know better.
