It isn't necessarily the best that ends up dominating at an early age. Using this method can and will be misleading.

Some times shear size and an "early start" can cause one pup to overpower the others at an early age. A pup from an early ovulation compared to the others, a better placement in the uterus to recieve nutrients from the mother, perhaps luckier on the nipples the first few days etc...or whatever reason...yet, you have increased dog aggression and food based aggression.

I would suggest you dice the meat into "prechewed sized bits."
