Subject: Learned Behaviors

This was brought up on another board geared mainly at herders and other breeds. But it had me wondering about the boels.

"Do you find your pups learn behaviors from watching their parents or other dogs?"

I had to agree to it. That was one thing I love doing is letting the pups watch mom/dad and interact within the pack and learn certain behaviors. There are things that we as humans just can't teach a dog. I think canines gain alot of information and knowleged based on their guidance from other dogs.

I know with my heelers I always let the pups in pens with their dad or another dog and watch, quickly they would either follow their lead, or not be intrested. Was a great way to theach them what they are suposed to do.

Any thoughts?
